The track team had the best season in Highland's history. They had a dual record of 5 wins and 2 losses, finished second and third in their two triangle meets, and came in second of four in the Twilight League. Seven records were broken this year, with I.. Metzger setting both the 120 high hurdles and 180 low hurdles, with times of 16.2 and 22.2 respectively. The 880 relay team set a new record of 1:39. The team consisted of R. Weaver, C. Adkins, J. West- brook, and L. Metzger. R. Weaver cleared 5'9 in the high jump, while M. Beck set records of 52.9 seconds in the 440 and 23.2 in the 220. M. O'Quin set a new record of 44 ft. 4 in. in the shot. 31 points were scored in the sectional, which is more than all the previous years put together, Coach Kurtz fills in the team on what event each member will be running. -2 Season, Best Yr. Left: High Point man for the year, sophomore Jeffjahn goes up for a rebound. 30-Varsity Basketball Highland's Varsity Cagers began and ended the '74-'75 cam- paign with exciting one-point wins over Centerburg. The Scots won their first three, which included Centerburg, Danville, and East Knox. They then fell victims to 13 straight losses and finished with wins over East Knox and Centerburg to end the regular season. In tournament play, the Scots dropped their only game to the Freddies 66-49. High1and's final record was a disappointing 5-14. Individually for the Scots, Jeff Jahn, along with being MVP, was also high point man with 303, along with leading the team with 25 take-aways. Todd Nauman received the rebound award to lead the Scots with 106. Mike Beck led in foul shooting with 7291 while Harry Grandstaff led the team with 27 assists. Showing hustle throughout the season, Bob Sears received the Fighting Scot Award while sophomore Wayne Hinkle received the Most Improved Player Trophy.
