Written by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II, the story centered on the lives of Magnolia and Ravenal. On board the Cotton Blossom, the river gambler Ravenal, played by Senior Doyle Banks, fell in love with Magnolia, portrayed by Dolores Stepp. Through songs and dances, the characters of Showboat depicted life on the Mississippi River between 1880 and 1927. ; On board the Cotton Blossom, Senior Dave Elswick as Captain Andy listens to Ellie, played by Ellen Wolfe, as she pleas to sing at the evening performance. Three Mincing Misses, Gwen Cooper, Janet Wasson, and Senior Karen Balbo, do a little dance routine with their parasols for their favorite beaux. 14 Operetta
