Parade Begins Sixth Annual Homecoming First Place Trophy Presented to Seniors Straining on tiptoe, at- tempting to see over the crowds, the town ' s specta- tors awaited the sight of Highland High ' s band which would mark the beginning of the parade. The sixth an- nual Homecoming parade was on its route to the foot- ball field. Climaxing a hectic week of frenzied activity, the parade wound its way down Kennedy Avenue passed the anxious crowds lining the street. The parade was strewn with unique floats constructed by the classes and clubs of the high school. The parade having reached its destination, the bonfire was kindled and set afire creating a flaming fi- nale to the parade. For the first time, floats were not dismantled and used as fuel for the bonfire. They were saved in order to be displayed on the football field preceding the game and the an- nouncement of the winners of the trophies. The seniors were both surprised and thrilled when their float, Bottle ' Em, claimed first prize. French Club ' s Oui Can Can Chesterton and Key to Victory designed by the Key Club placed second and third respectively. Awarding of the tro- phies ended the initial fes- tivities and made way for an exciting game and a cor- onation. ABOVE RIGHT: Continuation of the use of stone as a beautifying factor in the school is again seen in the library, enhancing the many book shelves.
