We have used as our theme The Schools of Highland County, the Little Switzerland. In developing this theme, we show the students who come from various valley homes to begin school in one of the three elementary schools. Reynolds and Marilyn It is to Mr. John B. Reynolds that the Seniors gratefully dedicate the 1964 issue of THE HIGHLANDER Mr. Reynolds has faithfully and efficiently served the schools of Highland County in various capaci- ties--as principal, classroom teacher, coach, and sponsor of extra-curricular activities. He is at present principal of Monterey Elementary School and physical education teacher there. He was principal of Blue Grass High School from September 1953 through June 1956. Mr. Reynolds has been classroom teacher of commercial subjects, physical education, and driver's education. As coach of the gitl's basketball team since 1958, Mr. Reynolds team has won four district trophies. He has been just as successful in coaching the boy's track teams. His teams have won district meets four or five times. In extra-curricular activities, Mr. Reynolds had been one SCA Sponsor, Girls Monogram sponsor, and advisor to the business manager of THE HIGHLANDER. There were fifty-three of us in the eighth grade in 1960. Some became drop-outs. Some failed and are enrolled in other classes in Highland High. A few transferred ro other schools.
