Alma Mater Oh, Highland High School now to thee, We sing our song of loyalty! We sing thy glory and thy fame, All praises to thy honored name. Come and join us while we sing, We’ll make the near-by hillsides ring. Our faith in thee will never die, We'll always love thee, Highland High. Foreword Education is timeless, unending and forever render- ing new possibilities to those interested in dedicating their minds to learning and under- standing. This annual is given in the hope that the memories of the year just past may hold many such events of learning and development in the stu- dents of Highland High. Table Of Cont ADMINISTRATION and FACULTY CLASSES SPORTS ACTIVITIES and | ORGANIZATIONS STUDENT LIFE COMMENCEMENT SENIOR ACTIVITIES ADVERTISING ae Mr. Vermillion The Superintendent of the Highland Local School Dis- trict is Mr. Lewin O. Vermillion. He is working to improve Highland’s educational system and keeps the schools run- ning smoothly and efficiently. This year Mr. Vermillion re- ceived a new office in which to do his job more efficiently. School Board The Highland Board of Education handles such important tasks as hiring new teachers, selecting new textbooks, and deciding school policies. They also regulate salary scales and govern tax funds for new buildings, repairs, and new equipment needed by our schools. This year’s members are: Mr. Robert Schmelzer, Mr. William H. Kelly, Mr. Howard E. Cartwright, Vice-President; Mr. John Wiszt, Mrs. Evelyn Brunskill, Clerk; Mrs. Elsie Hum- mel, President; and Mr. L. O. Vermillion, Superintendent. Always ready to help the students at Highland, Mr. Chaffee discusses their individual problems and needs with them personally. He is also an excellent source for college references and gives sources of other recommendations for his students from work permits to. college scholarships. Mr. Chaffee 1967 marks the tenth year that Mr. Richard W. Chaffee has been principal of Highland High School. Since Mr. Chaffee takes a personal interest in each and every student here at Highland, he has helped to change the image held in the student’s minds from one of a “gruff principal” to one of a friend. This was the day of the Junior - Senior Prom. It began with the pre-prom activities of swimming at the Jewish Center, bowling at Riviera Lanes, and miniature golf at Mon- trose. Later in the evening a delicious dinner was served at the Holiday Inn. Following the dinner an atmosphere of “Southern Hospitality” was set in the beautifully decorated gym for the dance. No one can describe the delight the juniors and seniors had listening to and dancing to the music played by the band.
