VARSITY FOOTBALL The Highland Hornets had a very successful football season in ’52, winning seven games while dropping only one. Highland was undefeated in the Medina County Eleven-man Football League for the second consecu- tive year, winning the league championship two years in succession. Our first game with Revere was postponed because of polio. We started out the season playing a tough Class A school—Elyria Catholic from Lorain County. We came out on top 19 to 14. Our second game was with a rugged Butler team on Bellville’s field. After a half time 0 to O score, Butler pulled away to score three touchdowns. The final score was 19 to 0, the only game we lost all year. The next week we bounced back to win our first league game from Wakeman at Medina’s field. The score was 54 to 6. Our second league game was with Brunswick at Brunswick’s field. The final score was 35 to 0. In our fifth game we played Bellville at the Lodi field. The Highland Hornets came to their peak of the year in performance. We came out on top 28 to 12. : Next we played Seville at the Seville field. The Barbers held us to a scoreless tie at the half, but the Hornets again emerged away for a final score of 13 to 0. This was our third league game. Our fourth league game was with Boston at Medina’s field. We won by a score of 35 to 0. Our last game of the season was played with Lodi at the Medina field. It was our Homecoming Game and Dad’s Night. We emergéd with a victory of 54 to 7, with each one of the seven seniors making a touchdown.
