STUDENT COUNCIL Preamble to the Constitution of the Student Council We, the students of Highland High School, in order to provide for student participation in school government, establish better understanding between faculty and students, afford training in citizenship, and insure a sincere respect for law and order, do establish and ordain this constitution for student government in Highland High School. This year we of the student council feel we have accomplished to a great extent the purposes of our constitution. Our organization consists of the officers, Peter Gee, President; Janice Wagner, Vice President; Janice Duncan, Secretary; Bill Bramley, Treasurer; presidents of all student organizations, plus representatives and their alternates. We appreciate the work and assistance that Mrs. Anastos, our advisor, has given us. A noon program was set up to provide entertainment for pupils during their lunch period. We have helped pre- pare better pep meetings and we arranged a room decorating contest during the holiday season. The year-book this year is also sponsored by this organization. We have sponsored the Homecoming Dance and the May Dance each of which was a tremendous success. We also sponsored a carnival in March. With these events we hope to be able to send a delegate to the National Conven- tion of Student Councils.
