I l P 4 , Last year Highland experienced the sudden loss of a dear friend, Mr. Ron- dom, a man who will become a lasting memory in the hearts of students and teachers. He had been an inspiration to all who knew him during that first hectic year here: iMr. Rondom displayed interest in his students. Realizing that teaching is more than merely relaying information and attitudes, he truly communicated with each student. He was a living lesson in understanding anfcompassion. The faculty too felt his influence. He boosted morale and was always willing to listen to a problem and to help solve it. To them, he was more than a fellow teacher: he was a respected and beloved friend. The 1969 Heather serves as a fitting memorial to Mr. Steen Rondom.

BOARD OF EDUCATION FIRST ROW: Mrs. M. Neville, Mr. W. Hyland, Mr. L. DeGeorge, Mr. J. Moffa, Mr. A. Muller, Mr. E. Hill: SECOND ROW: Mr. J. Shorter, Mr, J. Kooistra, Mr. A. Calabrese, Mr. D. Downer, Mr. S. Feldman. On behalf of my fellow Board Members: My wishes are extended to the graduating Class of 1969 for a long life of happiness and success. Remember, graduates, you must thank many persons for making this graduation a reality. We extend our thanks to the administration and all members of the staff, professional and non-professional. Their assistance and guidance, I am sure, in some way have helped you develop a brighter outlook on life. Above all, your parents have contributed most to this feat's becoming a reality. A special tribute should be extended to all of you for your enthusiasm and school spirit that have established a new record for this school district. It is this kind of lead- ership by students that builds good character and outstanding citizenship. In your reflections to come in future years, remember Highland with the good fellowship of your democratic fellow students. I am concerned with your future. I would hope that each graduate pursues a defi- nite course in life. Seek out your vocation. Assume the proper attitude and you will be sure to succeed. A great many events have occurred during your high school years that have changed the course of history. You have experienced some historical events that have hailed the hallmark of our times. The success of the Apollo Eight is one of those happenings. This should inspire you as graduates to forge ahead to make this the greatest nation in the world. I say stand up for what is right and just for all of mankind.Do not be influenced by the militant forces that are out to break down the sphere of law and order that has served our nation so well for generation upon generation. Do not let these moments of violence ta ke root in your lifetime. May the dreams and hopes of peace, fellowship and understanding for a better world become a reality for all. Good luck, graduates. Joseph R. Moffa, President Board of Education 4
