66444 Qfdetwzq September 6, 1950 On this day the good ship Fifty-four set sail on the morning tide from the sheltering port of childhood. She carries a goodly, though rather inexperienced, crew. They have chosen Mary Ann Sandy as Captain, with Carole Valli her First Mate, Marie Sparacio handles the secretarial work, while John Minard is the Ship's Purser, Representing our crew on Ship's Council are Ann Friedman, Yvonne Brault, Robert Hecht, and Peter Burdash, March 16, 1951 Today has been a day of fun and laughter, Our first great social event, the Freshman Party, has taken place aboard ship, September 5, 1951 Now we begin the second leg of our four year voyage. Mary Ann Sandy is again at the helm, with Peter Bur- dash the First Mate, Marie Sparacio is Yeoman and the Purser is Peter Briggs. Ann Friedman, Yvonne Brault, John Minard, and Robert Hecht are on the Ship's Council. November 17, 1951 The Sophomore Dance was held tonight on the ship's deck, Gaiety and festivities highlighted the evening. September 3, 1952 We reach the mid-point of our joumey today, After two years of sailing, we have become fairly experienced seamen, We find that one of the officers of our last year's joumey, Peter Briggs, has left our ship for another. We are now led by a new Captain, Robert Hecht, with Ann Friedman as First Mate. Margaret Mertes is Yeo- man, with Vincent Vitale as Purser, This year our representatives on the Council are Marilyn Mertes, Yvonne Brault, John Minard, and Peter Burdash, We are planning to go off our course a few miles next year to visit the city of Washington, D. C. For this purpose we expect to organize a club. March 20, 1953 Today a wave of suppressed excitement ripples through the crew, the rumor is about ship that our class rings have arrived, May 1, 1953 Tonight some of our crew gave a performance of a play entitled Was This Murder? This climaxed weeks of hard work under the able direction of Mr. Ruggeri. May 14, 1953 As a farewell to the crew of our sister ship Fifty-three, we held tonight the greatest social event of our four year journey, the Junior Prom. The merriment and dancing lasted well into the night, September 9, 1953 After three long years on the sea of learning, our journey is nearly at its end, Our Captain this year is Peter Burdash, with David Baker as First Mate. The Yeoman is again Margaret Mertes and Peggy Phillips is the Purser, Representing us on the Ship's Council are Robert Hecht and Marilyn Mertes, as Co-Presidents, and Ann Friedman and Fred Maynard, March 26, 1954 A play entitled Tons o' Fun was given as a final performance by the crew of the good ship Fifty-four. May 14, 1954 The ship's company was honored tonight by the staff of our sister ship Fifty-five, We were their guests at a grand and glorious Prom, held in the Grand Salon which was brilliantly decorated for the occasion. June 27, 1954 The last event of our four year journey was Graduation, The time has finally arrived when the able bodied seamen of our ship are to part and board separate ships upon which they will sail into the sea of the future, Class Historian
