Farewell Dear School Priscilla Janice Smith Dear Alma Mater, Departing is a very sad occasion, but all good things must end. We have accomplished much within your walls. We have enjoyed our many days of hard work and pleasures, and many new found friends in teachers and students, and our new and profitable educational ex- periences. We, as the graduating class of 1957, aim to be wise consumers of that which we have gained during our extensive stay within your walls dear Alma Mater. We hope to be a credit to your significance and the things for which you stand. As our last message of farewell, we echo a phrase from our cherished school song Dear ole High Street High School, we're in love with you. As we go forth into this world, we are hoping that we may con- tribute to this monument to Negro education, and pave the way for many others. To those of you whom we leave behind, we urge you to show more pride in your school, and work to make it stand out as a job well done. As you progress up each rung of the ladder, be proud and dig- nigied. Feel good when you hear someone remark, There goes a student from High Street. 28
