O Zeta ln the fall of 1949 the Beta Club xmtmated ten new members They were JoAnn Holton Edwyn Ryals Thelma Wh1te Faye Johnson Duane Edwards Everette Ph1ll1pS Pat Yearwood Mary Beth McDonell Nancy Donnally and Shxrley Pope The sponsors and the Beta members declded to ask Sophomores to be come members m order that they may have one more year of Beta tram 1ng Later m the year three Sen1ors were el1g1ble for membersh1pand were asked to Jom They were Bertle Mae Huggms Sarah Crews and Wxlburn Addlson Thls makes a total of twenty members We were asked by the mnth grade C1v1cs class to back them 1n an ef fort to establlsh Student Government We d1d as asked and were IH favor of th1s movement However due we thlnk to m1s1nformat1on gathered by some of the students thls fa1led to TSCCIVC a maJor1ty of student votes At the end of the school term 48 49 our treasury funds were d1v1ded g1v1ng one half to the graduatmg Semorsfor thexr donat1on toward a water Cooler fgr the school Thls precedent wxll be carrled out aga1n thlg year xn order that the present Semors may leave a donatxon to the school 'lhe other half wlll be left for next years Betas to start fxnancxng the 1950 51 Sandspur We hope to have a good delegatlon at the State Conventxon whlch w1ll be held at the George Washmgton Hotel 1n Jacksonville durlng the month of Aprxl The Betas sponsored the annual All have helped some more than others Most everyone helped sol1c1t ads Edwyn Mary Beth and Nancy sol1c1ted subscmptlons Others typed pasted and d1d other thxngs necessa ry for the completl of an annual Our ma1n typxst was Margaret She was asslsted by M y and Sarah lt has been work mmgleo wxth fun Some of us worked three days durxng Chr1str'nas holxdays We hope thu annualwlll be a success and we hope the Beta v11lmake exch annual bet ter than the last , 1 x 1 1 s J Y I . . ., , - 1 1 , . , . , 1 l ' 1 . . , . , - 'X . . . , - - - .
