'Walieqg Our Volley ball season was short We played Lake C1ty 1D a 2 out of 3 loss The only other games played were 1h the Alachua County Volleyball Tournament The eleventh and twelfth grade g1rls went to the fmals The nmth and tenth grade g1r1s went to the sem1 fmals The seventh and e1ghth won the1r f1rst game wxth Archer by a score of 26 25 The mnth and tenth drew Archer and were the wlnners by the score of 26 15 In the sem1 f1 nals they lost to Galnesvllle H1gh School by a score of 16 19 The eleventh and twelfth downed Newberry 42 10 1n the1r f1rst game ln the sem1 flnals they metArcher and won by ascore of 34 10 After w1n nmg 1h the sem1 fmals they met P K Yon-ge mn the nnals The H1ghSpr1ngs g1rls led at the half 10 9 but the sl1m margm was hard to hold and P K Yonge came up IH the last few seconds of the game and won 19 16 cwketlczfl The Sandspurs and Sandspurettes opened the1r 1949 50 season wlth Mason C1ty lt was a double wm for the boys and glrls The g1rls score was 20 15 and the boy s score was 34 27 H1ghSpr1ngs also won the1r sec score was 52 34 The season has just opened and the future looks good for our boys and girls 74015452 Mr Mann1ng and Mr Hendr1x were the coaches for the H1gh Spr1ngs Mxdgets They made the1r f1rst appearance on the H1gh Spr1ngs local fxeld play1ng the Gamesvxlle teams and won 18 0 lt was the f1rst m1dget foot ball game m the h1story of I-hgh Sprmgs The H1gh Spr1ngs Mxdgets played the Gaxnesvllle Rockets offenswely 1n the fxrst half and the Ga1nesv1lle W11dcats defenslvely Then they sw1tched roles 1n the second half The H1gh Sprmgs Mxdgets used s1x dlfferent runmng plays and two passes Wh1Ch proved very successful The game ended w1th H1gh Sprmgs 1n possess1on of the ball on the Gamesvllle 30 and the score 18 0 was the f1rst w1n for our Mxdgets vw' ai qi 11 Q ol ji ' 1 1 .
