We had our own table in the cafeteria, our senior room, and the particularly grand free periods. At the beginning of the year, we learned that the principal who had welcomed us on that first day was leaving Charleston High. Soon we were told that Mr. John Gibbs, English teacher and friend to so many students was going too. Tearfully we bade them good-bye. It was a sad time but another to be remembered. Then Mr. Eugene C. Clark became principal and we welcomed him into the C.H.S. family. The year progressed and parts of our building received a much needed painting. Progress was made in science, lang- uages, literature, mathematics, and our business course. g There was always room for sports, however. Through all our years here, they've played an important part in our lives. We've watched our teams win and lose, always trying to remem- ber that they were our teams no mat- ter what the score. Some games were so exciting they'll never be forgotten. ln the twelfth grade, most of the s were our classmates and we especially proud ofthem. We had much to be proud of, rec- ognition for our classmates, accom- plishments of organizations, and our whole school. We've had a great deal' to live up to also. Learning, playing, and working, we grew to know each other better and found the fellowship of sharing inter- ests. This, probably is the key to what we'll remember most about Charleston High-the friends. Every year we have found new ones, students and faculty members, and with them we have shared a life. Thousands of mornings we've stood together for the National Anthem and prayed in uni- son. Hundreds of times we've lifted our voices loud and clear in the strains of our alma mater. Around these corporate experiences each indi- vidual has his own recollections. Now all that has beeh so familiar will soon find it's place in the corners of our memories. These have been wonderful years, happy and prosperous. We are sorry to see them end. Soon we'Il be on the threshold of a new life, looking forward to the years ahead, college, families of our own, and security. We'll always be very thankful and very proud to have been o part of the High School of Charles- ton. -sf-If sw 5 ' mm-Irfff 1' Nmnr-mfym-mfrwwn--fmwrvww vmfymwrf -ww,-,-W -W W, ...., .,
