We arc proud of our students at High Point College. Their spirit of friendliness and cooperation is a challenge to the faculty to give the hest of their abilities to academic and individual develop- ment. This creation of an environment favorable to learning is the basis of college experience and should give our graduates the preparation they need fur a mature and fruitful life in the years ahead.

The faculty, staff, and student body has experi- enced a singular honor in welcoming Dr. WEN- DELL M. PATTON, President of High Point College. Dr. Patton holds the B.S. and M.S. Degrees from the University of Georgia and the PH.D. De- gree from Purdue University. Dr. Pattern ' s experience has included such work as Assistant Registrar, Director of Admissions, Busi- ness Manager, Teacher, and Academies Department Head in various colleges. He has served in the U. S. Air Force and in positions of management in the business field. His experience and training, along with his interest in young people, should provide an effec- tive leadership for the college. Dr. Patton and family It comes to us suddenly that the years have flown by and the time has come to step forward out of the known into the unknown. We know not what the future holds for us, but we do know- that we leave a part of ourselves here on the campus and take part of our college with us. Few of us have done our best. None of us are yet educated. But— if we have become ac- quainted with the treasures of human thought— if we have the burning desire for our share of the legacy of all creative thinking— And if we see the possibilities for continual growth as a thoughtful and reasoning person- Then we are ready for tin ' s step that is not the ending, but the beginning. May God bless and keep you. ' OnJ H fy - Dr. Patton and secretary, Mrs. Spurrier.
