Article I To the Nursing Education Department, the Doctors, and the Guild, we leave our thanks. Article II To the rising Senior class we leave our black bands and our recent memories of affiliation. _ Article III To the rising Junior class we leave a step upward on the ladder of success, but beware—slippery when wet! Article IV I, Cathy Briggs, leave nothing—I'm going to need all I've got and then some! I, Jeanie Brower, leave my successful love life to anyone dumb enough to want it. I, Louise Denning, leave my ability to enjoy working on 4th East to anyone who can so enjoy. I, Gloria Dixon, leave all my colostomy patients to the freshman students, in hopes they will share in some real experiences. I, Dianne Johnson, leave all my diets and guaranteed weight losing exercises to Treva Lynch and my quiet ways to Sandy Jones, Sandra Ledwell and Chloe Albright. I, Gloria Johnson, leave for greener pastures and better hunting grounds. I, Carolyn McCabe, leave my bread and butter to anyone who is as superstitious as I am. I, Carolyn Parks, leave my personal opinions, hoping I'll get in fewer jams without them. I, Ellen Paul, leave my wild dreams of adventure to anyone who will come fly with me... Ann? I, Kay Shuskey, leave my ability to argue. I, Janice Slack, leave my giggling to anyone who is crazy enough to take it. I, Nancy Stewart, leave with my candle collection and daisies for 'The Corner. Diane Thomas, leave my ability to return from Philly with a cracker jack diamond to anyone who can finesse the consequences. Carolyn Parks Testatrix 50 H astory Tuesday, September 1, 1964... Three long, hard, struggling but wonderful years ago, twenty-five young in- nocents walked into the lobby of the Nurses' Residence to begin training to become Re gistered Nurses. A church party, cook-out at the Y.W.C.A., and initiation by the Junior Class marked our first week here. The night of initiation we learned what was meant by neat rooms - (and they remained that way most of the next three years). One might call it a conditioning week or the lull before the storm. Nursing I, Pharmacology, Micro- biology, Chemistry, Sociology, Nutrition, and Anatomy and Physiology proved to be the storm! Along with the hard work and anxieties of the year, there were fun times too - school dances - we always managed to have plenty of boys there even if a couple did show up with blue uniforms, pistols, and badges. Snow sledding with the saucers, fraternity parties, and various OTHER parties will never be forgotten. Remember our first injection to our roommate, our first day on the halls - only 2 1 2 hours to do A.M. care on One patient - you're kidding me! Yes, we were the real thing that day - Nurses! Those long hours of closed study where we learned how to disappear quickly when Mrs. M. knocked on the door. Those closets aren't large enough for six people! In April we were presented with our caps. Our dream was slowly coming true. Despite our efforts, we learned during our first nine months, if nothing else, to act like we knew it even if we didn't! We began our Junior year with Med. -Surg. II and III with Mrs. Hiatt - we'll always remember - at this stage of the game and earning the title of 'Hiatt's little dozen. Obstetrics, O. R., and Recovery Room completed this year. Hot dog sales and the car wash were our projects to raise funds for the Junior-Senior. (I still don't know what happened to those car mats!). Parks and Mac were the only two who really profited from the car wash! Our Junior-Senior, July 25 , 1966, - a night we will all remember. ''The Days of Wine and Roses was our theme. It was carried out well with red roses which we presented to our big sisters. During our Junior year, Mac was selected Miss Student Nurse of High Point and D.J. was selected Miss North Carolina Student Nurse! We chartered a bus to Charlotte and were overjoyed when she came home with the crown. Dee and D.J. went to San Francisco and represented High Point well at the Student Nurses' National Convention. Finally we received our Senior stripes and Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing IV, and Senior Ex- perience awaited us. We'll always remember Psychiatry - T.J.C., our instructors, the patients, learning to knit and play Canasta, and being teased about our accent. Philly offered to us a wide variety of activities. Sightseeing, trips to N. Y., Atlantic City, and McGuire Air Force Base made the three months. Now, as our Senior year is drawing to a close, we leave knowing that the memories of yesterday make the joys of today seem sweeter and the visions of tomorrow seem brighter.
