CAROL LYNN DOUGLASS Mascots SAM AVERETTE 63 § Clase History History is made from simple, everyday happenings that might occur in the lives of anyone. To prove that point let us turn back the pages of time and roll back the clouds of imagination that we might relive some of the cherished memories of past times at High Point Memorial Hospital. We will always remember our first days on the halls. Everyone was filled with the apprehension of not knowing what to expect. As we look back now we can laugh at ourselves; for the things which seemed so hard then are now routine. New experiences greeted us our junior year. Our specialities added variety as we hurried through the operating room, obstetrics, recovery room, and diet kitchen. Schedules were crowded with classes and night duty. Also during our junior year we started working on money making projects for our Junior-Senior Banquet. The night of our Junior-Senior will always be one of our memorable highlights. Then we began leaving for affiliations. Everyone was apprehensive at the thought of going to Children's Hospital, Chestnut Lodge or the Philadelphia Institute. Affiliations will always be the most memorable part of our training. During our Senior Year our project was our yearbook, The Lighted Lamp. There was much hard work connected with this but when it finally went to press the hard work was forgotten and the pride of accomplishment felt. And once more it is graduation time for the Seniors of High Point Memorial Hospital. Finally, graduation has come for us, the class of 1964; and we realize that, alltoosoon, our three-year quest for knowledge has ended. But time cannot stand still; progress is essential. The way in which we command the order of our lives from this day on will determine our future goals. Jane Howell 66 “Prophecy Delusions, illusions, or hallucinations—call it what you like, but by gazing into her crystal ball, Madame Freud, sees the lighter side of the future for each member of the class of 1964. The year is 1975, and we see Patsy Hoss Aldridge traveling through the Mid East withthe Bob Hope Entertaining Group. She finds a great deal of WA nursing the overseas troops and those who entertain them. Judy Barnes is nursing in between babies, gains as ae but still prodding on. Rosie Boedicker finally got-her B. S., PhD, , in nursing but discovered there is more satisfaction in sewing, andis now chief seamstress at Bells. Bobbie Chriscoe folie that sterile Bediokide cbitds in mr ich cotton picking. Shirley Davis is now a medical missionary in South Africa, iierng all the natives to her tent meetings. Amnette Essick has just appeared in Who's Who in Afferican Women , still prim and proper in her nursing. Brenda Franklin is happy flying highs ab es Force guy. Winona Gibson is teaching Pediatrics at Children's Hospital and looking for her third husband. Sandy Henry stays busy cooking T. V. oe for her man, and working on her days off. Jane Howell is private duty nurse for carious Clay. She is the only singing Nightingale we produced. Gaynell Cromer Kearns is helping Billy to boast the embalming business. Fran Kennedy is Department Store Nurse Supervisor at Prago-Guyes. Beth Lamar is married to a Russian doctor, andworking 11-7 behind the Iron Curtain. Sylvia Lowder is a reporter for Nursing Outlook, spreading her unwanted opinion all over the U. S. Gladys Rummage has just published her latest novel called ''Reaction-Formation . She works as an office nurse between best sellers. Judy Sale is traveling with the Peace Corps, and she has just opened up a Rathskellerin Outer Mongolea. Emily Smith is Director of Nursing in Asheboro and finally caught the manof her dreams. Martha Tingen, now president of A. N. A., is trying to get better working hours for students, while working double shifts herself. Susie Wicker is living in a beatnik pad in Greenwich Village and working as O. R. Supervisor in a localhospital. That's it from Madame Freud. Can she be right? Let's hope so! 67 Lact Will and Ceotament We the members of the 1964 Senior Class of High Point Memorial Hospital, realizing that our days at ourold Alma Mater are rapidly drawing to a close, and being of sound mind and body, do hereby make and bequeath to the aftermentioned, our legal and rightful heirs, this, our last will and testament.
