Our struggles, our GPespaic, our triuinphs, and our joy are recorded in the forthcoming pages as Wememimipedttom inexperience to experience and from ignorance to knowledge. Miitemeneme of this book is footprints. Footsteps are an essential part ofa Duet omadyeas they carry her about her duties. It is only by footsteps that FOotprimnts are made. We are grateful for those who guided our footsteps each day in order that we faenemacnieve our goal. Three years out of the lives of twenty-three girls have been spent working and playing together. The purpose of the work was to mold young lives into mature, capable nurses while the play relieved some of the tension and tiredness of eight hours of duty. This book tells of our life, Our associates, and our friends. It tells of the places we have been, the ex- periences that we have had, and of all we have strived to be. It is with pride that we present the LIGHTED LAMP of 1959. IN MEMORIAM DRVeRU Weer taped Dr. J. W. Slate, the father of Dr. J. E. Slate and Dr. M. L. Slate passed away on September 12, 1958, after serving on our hospital staff for many years. His health limited his practice but he continued to work at his office until the time of his death. His practice stretched over fifty-seven years of service to the sick. An old phrase gone but not forgotten'' best describes mutual feelings toward his memory. Page Three
