Only a few days found us minus one girl and a few weeks found us minus another. That left twenty-four of us to carry on the work we had begun. We all settled down to studies and a few hours work in the hospital each week. Almost before we knew it, it was Christmas and each of us welcomed a week at home. March 2 was to usa historic event, for this ended our probation period. We received our caps and were then really “angels of mercy.” During the summer we all enjoyed a two weeks vacation. At the beginning of our second year a new student, transferred from Greensboro, joined us making twenty-five. During this year and the following year we completed our Pediatric affiliation in Washington, D. C. CLASS HISTORY In the fall of our senior year, we welcomed a former student who returned to complete her training. Again we were twenty-six in nuthber. This year really had things in store for us. On September 7 we received our black bands. This to us meant seniority. We felt the heavy load of responsibility that was ours to be proud of. After this, the months passed swiftly and our thoughts turned to graduation, of which white uniforms, invitations, parties, dances, and last, but not least, state board were all a part. And now as we discard our blue and white uniforms, for “Whites,” we remember that there have been trying times in the past and we realize that we know not what the future holds for us. In other words, “Tomorrow we launch, where shall be anchor?’ However we also realize the knowledge we have gained and the enjoyment we have ex perienced. As we, the class of 1950 leave the girls behind us, we leave to them and to al’ girls who follow in our footsteps this thought—anything worth while is worth working for Rutu Miter, Historian MartHa ANN CoBLeE HELEN STEWART ADELE CAUDLE President Vice President Secretary Cols ASSES © Fbelk Gs bees Ivy BAUGHAM Treasurer Yunior Class Page 36 | | Ivy BAUGHAM Ahsokie, N.C.
