iisziT ' Ja N V ' OLD DAYS Old days , good times I remember fun days , filled with simple pleasures , drive in movies, comic books and blue jeans, Howdy Doody , baseball cards and birthdays , take me back to a world gone away . Memories seem like yesterday Old days , good times I remember gold days, days I ' ll always treasure funny faces , full of love and laughter funny places , summer nights and streetcar . Take me back, a world gone away boyhood memories seem like yesterday Old days, darkened dreams of good times gone away. Old days, days of love and feeling fancy free. Old days , days of magic still so close to me . Chicago l1 ROBERT S IRELAND SUPER NTENDENI ■P Higgins Junior High School PEABODY, MASSACHUSEHS 01960 Edward J. O ' Connor Principal PRINCI PAL ' S MESSAGE This YEARBOOK is one of fond memories of your Junior High School yeors at the Higgins. As you thumb through the various pages you will recall events that mode these yeors between elementary school ond high school o time of personal growth and ocademic progress. In 1776 a concerned group of people, who lived within sight of the spot where the Higgins Junior High is located, supported o couse which eventually brought forth the United Stotes of Americo. For two hundred yeors-men and women, boys and girls, native born and immigrant, worked ond fought side by side to build this community in a spirit of freedom and peace devoted to justice. These aspirations hove been handed down from generotion to generation to this very day. Now our Country is two hundred years old, but the Higgins Junior High School is but five years old-we have one hundred ninety five years to achieve our Bicentennial. These past few years have been beset by o National Recession ond an extended period of Economic Inflation. The Higgins Junior High in its short span of yeors has grown to be the second largest Junior High School in Mo ssa c h u se 1 1 s- a pupil inflotion greater than ever anticipated. Today-in the days of your youth, you will gloss over many of these words and ideas. Tomorrow-in the years of your maturity, you will dis- cover that you have been given the trust to preserve the glorious heritage of America ' s two hundred years. Graduates, do not be afraid to stand up and speak out os the brave patriotsdid two hundred years ago. This nation needs potriots now in 1976 just os much os it needed them in 1776. Your Unit Directors, teochers, counselors, and office clerks join me in wishing you acodemic success, good health and spirituol happiness as you go forth to the next level in your educational career. O ' Connor Principal March 31 2001 Since you missed our 25th Class Reunion we thought we ' .d write and tell you about the people who came. Remember back during our days at the Higgins, when we used to try to predict what some of the kids would be doing in the future? Well, some of our old classmates have found places in society that really fit them. Rich Call is now working for the Telephone Company as an operator, Stephen Baker and Linda Cook are rolling in the dough in their new bakery, Sal Celeste has joined Mama Celeste in her pizza business and Dave and Rich Cole are partners in a mine. Remember Debbie Currier? Now she delivers telegrams for Western Union. lou may have heard that Tom Downy is now the president of that company that makes fabric softener but I ' ll bet you didn ' t know that Don, John, Judy, and John M. Betten- court have set up a law firm called Bettencourt, Bettencourt, Betten- court and Bettencourt. Jay Afrow has a crew cut and the Brooks, Dana and Kevin, are babbling on. Nancy Hopping ' s new job is as a replacement for the Easter Bunny. Rose Patuleia ' now has a flower shop and James Nichols collects dimes and pennies. Danny Roche is an exterminator and Diane Plucker takes the feathers off chickens for Frank Perdue. Bradley Schrank, he ' s much shorter than he used to be. Isn ' t it awful about Cindy and Dennis Stone, their marriage is on the rocks. But some kids never change Donna ' s Holden on, Brian Hatch is cracked, there ' s still something fishy about Diane Gill and Patsy Sousa still has no B. P. Steven Lord is now a preist and Scott Wlasuck owns a pickle company. Well, that ' s all the news we have for you right now and that ' s PLENTY! See you at our next reunion!!! SUPER N TENDcNl Hi!!
