THE WAY WE ARE River flowing idly into sand - Beginning nowhere that I know to drift To nowhere I can find - 1 understand Its slow, erratic force; its pointless shift. Seagull circling near our rowboat ' s wake - Demanding nothing , but a place to cast Its truant shadow; teaching me to make A choice in values that will work and last - Of such are visions made. I ' ve lived to know A dream that ' s forced to being, forced to live Before it knows itself, will never grow. A dream has need for idleness to give It strength to choose to be forever free . O ' Connor Principal PRINCIPAL ' S MESSAGE To the graduates of the Higgins Junior High School - the seventh largest junior high school in Massachusetts - I wish to extend my best wishes and congratulations. Like graduating classes before you - you have lived in a period of many crises. During these days - you will recall the energy crisis - the gasoline shortage and the word Watergate . However, it is through this YEARBOOK and its pictures that you will remember a Higgins Musical - a class dance - a victorious athletic team - a Science Fair or even one of our infrequent false alarms. Beyond what I have mentioned - I hope you received an education which will enable you to meet the next challenge on your educational journey. With your Teachers, Counselors, and Unit Directors, I wish you every success as you move ahead. Our thanks go also to the Staff and Advisor who labored so long to make this YEARBOOK possible. When these days are dim and almost forgotten - take out this yearbook and look again at the tender memories of your days at the Higgins Junior High School. Finally, go forth unafraid to meet the future, have faith in your- self, your country and your God.
