Animals Will Be Led Te Shew Bing by Laura Kraft Fort Worth, Houston, San An- tonio! Do these places sound familiar? Well, to some of the FFA and 4-H'ers these are cities where a grand champion animal can mean Big bucks. For the next month, school will be at a minimum feta,; few people around here. Starting with Fort Worth this week,. San Antonio in two weeks, Houston in fopr, and then the County Show Mardf IO- 11, Mr. Mann and his ag. students will be kept busy traveling. Livestock shows consist of a lot of hard work and long hours. Animals must be washed, dried, trimmed, and brushed so asjto make the animal show its best Feeding the animal the right kind and amount of feed is also very important for the finished product. The animals weight tgone of the first aspects to be considered when getting into the 1 $hov|s. Barrows must weigh in between 200-250 lbs. and steers must weigh at least 900 lbs. with no top lifrit except at the County Show where it is 1300 pounds. Livestock shows can also be I malls, and even the sight of your .4 motel room is a great pleasure. Courtney Paul and Scotty Fritzlen 'plan to attend all the shows. Phil Detrixhe, James Colby, Laura Kraft, and Jim Pierce have made plans to attend the Houston show. Mr. Mann, vo ag. teacher, will ac- company them on their long — and hopefully — prosperous journeys. N.L.S. ABBS TWO by Rhea fyd Sharia Benge and Rhe Wqcd were inducted into the t£ag. Honor Society last Wednesday afternoon. The instafestfon started at 1:00. It was a candlelit ceremony with speeches from the President and Vice President. Other members ex- plained the meaning of the N.H.S. Thosejnvited to the ceremony were parents of the members and the eighth grade through High School classes. The members held a reception for their parents in Mr. Blocker's office. Members of the N.H.S. now in- clude Igburtney Paul, President, Spencer Ridgway, Vice President; Laura Kraft, Brenda Pierce, Donna Nicholson, Sharia Benge, and Rhea Word. I pleasurable.
