Appreciation of Art, and Character for Living Mrs. Rosemary McKeen is instructor of physical education, health, civics, and Ohio History. She points out to Mr. Keith Biler, director of the senior band and high school chorus, that the grade book is not funny. He doesn’t seem to get the message. To keep trim and fit, physical education stu¬ dents do exercises. Cindy Osmun and Twyla Snyder are going through an arm warm-up which strengthens arms and gives muscles tone. Jr. High students, with the capable instruction of Miss Mary Jane Coon, have learned the appreciation and fundamentals of music. Miss Coon strives to impress upon her pupils how important music is and has always been to all peoples of the world. Carol Smitley, Jim Handy, Craig Andrews, and Bill Sabo study about the brass instruments with the capable instruction of Miss Coon.

These girls are receiving immeasurable ex¬ perience that they will use the re¬ mainder of their lives. “Proprietorship is an important ‘unknown’ in our future,” says Sally Scott. Sandy Clark and Barry Haver seem to agree with her. These three stu¬ dents realize that knowing how to keep financial records and handle business transactions will be valuable in later life. for Vocations Washing and ironing are two skills which are an essential part of homemaking. Connie Hostetler irons while Elaine Otis folds the clean clothes. Lee Hinsch and Carolyn Neate take another load of wash from the machine.

Board Strives for Better Facilities School Board members are certainly the “unsung heroes” of the community. These busy people are willing to give their valuable time to promote better educational facilities for the youth of Hicksville. Serving with little compensation, this group holds numerous meetings during which they make vital de¬ cisions that affect the entire community. Actions of the School Board have much effect on the community. Through a great deal of effort, the Junior High will be moved to the elementary build¬ ing where an addition is to be built. Their present work is concentrated on the passing of another bond levy which will provide additional classrooms, cafeteria, and a modem gymnasium. a new 19
