Welding is just one of the many useful skills learned in this course. “You must be exact,” says Phillip Wonderly to Larry Payton, who is drawing plans for a machine arbor. Howard Biasing is drawing a left-handed acme thread in a right-handed national fine. Mechanical drawing is an important phase of Industrial Arts III. Three members of the faculty arrive early to prepare for the day’s events. Mrs. Mil¬ ler, home economics teacher and F.H.A. advisor will get the kitchen in order for her first class. Mrs. Culler, who teaches commercial subjects along with being ad¬ visor for Hixonian and F.B.L.A., will be correcting layouts and proofreading write¬ ups for the yearbook. A general understanding and ap¬ preciation for humanity is gained by studying social science, thus mistakes of the past can be avoided in the future. Citizen responsibilities are emphasized throughout all courses. Black Sea is located on a map in geography class. Television instruction was used this year for the first time. Airplanes flying at 20,000 feet beam the educational telecasts over channels 72 and 76 to classrooms within a radius of 200 miles. These students are waiting for their class to begin in American History. and Present Mr. Arnett, the newest member of our teaching staff, relaxes a few minutes be¬ tween classes. After a U. S. History and an American Government class, he needs rest. Mr. Schneider leafs through a cur¬ rent magazine looking for colorful pic¬ tures of world events in which his World History group might be interested. Mr. Simpson, along with his basketball duties, teaches drivers’ training, personal prob¬ lems, and geography. He seems to have everything under control now.

Sandy Clark and Barry Haver seem to agree with her. These three stu¬ dents realize that knowing how to keep financial records and handle business transactions will be valuable in later life. for Vocations Washing and ironing are two skills which are an essential part of homemaking. Connie Hostetler irons while Elaine Otis folds the clean clothes. Lee Hinsch and Carolyn Neate take another load of wash from the machine.
