Language Mrs. Batchelor and Mrs. May, Junior High and Freshman English instructors, are discussing the National Teachers’ Bulletin which Mrs. Wood, Latin and English XII instructor, is studying. Mrs. Wood is the advisor for both the National Honor Society and the Future Teachers of America. Mrs. Scheming, who teaches speech and English IX and X, busy taking notes for a write up in the Spoondrift of which she is the advisor. These four teachers are respon¬ sible for teaching the students correct English usage. Basic to In the English and foreign language department, students not only learn the essentials of grammar, but also the exact shades of meaning of many everyday words. Since two years of foreign language are required by most colleges, Latin, the solid foundation for all foreign lan¬ guages, is offered for those who are planning a higher education. Another important part of our English department is speech which provides training in the proper use of basic English grammar. Participants overcome stage fright, practice proper pos¬ ture, and use correct diction. Diagramming sentences is only one of the many “firsts” encountered by seventh grade English stu¬ dents.
