AfTer ThaT asfonishing evenT I picked up The New York Times and whaT should I chance upon buT a column wriTTen by my former classmafe Dal Winn lWincheII The secondl. While reading This I discovered some scandal abouT some more of The class of '36. Paul Kerr had won The high- esT honors of Oxford College. Vivian McKin- ley, of I-loliywood, had been secreTly married To George Wilderson, a graduafe of WesT PoinT, for six monThs. This also revealed ThaT Evelyn Monroe had secured her Third divorce lwho'd have Thoughf iTl. AfTer reading These asfounding facTs I needed refreshmenfs so I donned one of my gorgeous l?l evening gowns and wenT To The EasT Beach I-ToTel for my dinner. While waiTing for my firsT course who should I spy among The dancers buT BeTTy Correll in The arms of George Daniels, well known dancers of Broadway. AT The end of The dance my eyes followed Them To Their Tables where saT The NoTre Dame coach, Virl Rex, and his brillianf assisTanT LesTer Myers. On Their way ouT They paused aT my Table and in- viTed me To go To a house-warming aT The home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schofer lKaThIeen Elderl. Of course, I ioined Them. Before I go on, I musT Tell you of an accidenf which Turned ouT To be favorable. While in an airplane, incidenTalIy The piloT was Jack Wrighf, The rudder came off and caused a crack-up which resulTed in numerous cuTs for me. I was rushed To The hospiTal where To my surprise I found Bill Finzer To be my docTor. I-learing The rusTle of a sfarched uniform I glanced up To see my old pal, Laura Zolman, The head nurse! She informed me ThaT Mildred Rodocker, Florence Worden, and Leila Moore were also nurses in This hospifal. AfTer complefe recovery I Took a few days vacaTion in New York CiTy lrny home Townl. Up- on sTepping from The New York Cenfral whom should I meeT geTTing on buT Gerfrude CoTTreIl and Evelyn Kemerer on Their way To be sTew- ardesses of an airline in Chicago. My firsT sTop was The law office. There To my asTonishmenT I saw Frances Durfey as The pri- vaTe secreTary of The famous lawyer, Bob Pier- man! We hailed a Taxi and found our helpful class- mafe Charles Eadie driving. I-le IefT us ouT aT Wonderly's FIorisT Shoppe where The former BeTTy McDonald waiTed on us. She Told us ThaT The orchids were grown by E. L. Saur, and The roses by Marzella Camp. I decided To pass The evening by reading so I sfopped aT Bowker's News STand. OT course Iva Mae was There! From There I wenT To The A. and P. Sfore To buy some grapes. Who did I find managing The sfore buT Reyff Shirley. Two of The clerks I recognized as Paul Laub and LaVon Townsend. Away off in The corner I spied The bookkeeper, Leona Mack-of course ThaT isn'T her name now. The nexT day as I wenT To geT a horse To ride I found Carl Cook To be The manager of The Oberlin Riding Academy. This, of course, be- longed To Clyde. While riding I meT Derrill Kil- lian and his wife, The former Doris CoTTrell. Back of Them came Bill Lybarger and his girl friend lwhom I didn'T knowl. ThaT afTernoon I wenT To The movie and saw as The head usher Vera Rohrs. She ushered me To a fronT seaT and Turning To The IefT I saw Bob Walfers who said he was employed on a bridge by The conTracTor Andrew Carr. I-Tearing a fa- miliar voice I looked up and saw James Bali-L, who was speaking for Fox Moviefone. I-Ie Told us of The work of Pauline I-lollar as a foreign mis- sionary and of a new modernisfic beaufy salon in T-lollywood owned by Opal Frye, Evelyn Kee- ner, and Belle Meek. AfTer leaving The Theafer I chanced upon Reuhama Kauffman who said she was employed aT The STaTe Library. I inquired abouf Roberf McCauley, and she Told me he owned The larg- esT dairy in The ciTy. She also said she had re- ceived a leTTer from her fiance Don McMillan, who was a foresT ranger of Oregon. Before I close I wanT To say ThaT my co-worker of The I-Iixonian sfaff, Florence ArranTs, is now Dean of Vassar College.
