THE ARTS AT THEIR FINEST! On December 16th, 1986 the Hicksville High School Audito- rium was filled with talented musi- cians and proud parents. That same night the lobby was decorated with the artistic talents of HHS students. It was the Winter Concert and Art Show. The performers of the evening in- cluded the symphonic band, the or- chestra, a percussion ensemble, the chorale, and the madrigal singers. All groups kept the audience clapping for hours. The art show was also a great suc- cess. Exhibits ran from watercolor and acrylic paintings to charcoal sketches. The finest creations of the student body were on display. This evening proved that the combination of art and music makes for a good time! first chair violinist Harriet Young listens intently with the orchestra to the percussion ensemble at the winter concert. Senior Michael Whitton snapped this photo of Walt Disney World during his vacation in Florida. Many students dream of being in Florida in the middle of Febru- ary. Students at MHS are no different! Although school is basically our sec- ond home, we all long for vacations. For some, vacations arejust relax- ation, while for others, the need to just get away from it all overwhelms them. HHS provides several opportunities for those who want to get away for awhile. The Humanities students took trips to many local museums, as well as their big trip to several European countries. The senior trip has become a major tradition for Hicksville seniors. On the other hand if you choose to stay home, the movies, working , sleeping, and just plain relaxing can be your escape from the pressures of school! DO YOU WANNA GET AWAY? Seniors Missy Schaub and Glenn Kingsley frolic on the beach out in the Hamptons.
