Service With A Smile! Hicksville High School was in- volved not only with school activ- ities this year, but within the communi- ty as well. Many students and teachers pitched in at the Blood Drive to make it one of the most successful ever! Stu- dent Government was active in com- munity service this year when they took part in Hicksville's beautification program. Several trees were planted near Hicksville's business area to at- tempt to diminish its urban' atmo- sphere. A group of Hicksville students worked with the Youth Council in a group known as Utopia to try to raise public awareness of growing problems such as vandalism and alcohol and drug abuse. All in all, Hicksville stu- dents proved that they were a vital part of their community. Senior Patti Esperto is all smiles before donat- ing blood at the blood drive. Community Service

Couples are formed and broken up math theorems are learned sports events are won and lost and friends are made. Students re- alise that all these events cannot be packed into a six hour day and often stay after school. Yet, what is crammed into this six hour day is very important Every day students strug- gle through exams, blow up chemistry experiments, forget their locker com- binations, and generally have a lot of laughs. School is more than just a learning place- it is where we make our friends, enemies, and lives. A day in the life of a Micksville student is one that makes the most important times of our lives even more precious and dear. A DAY IN THE LIFE. . .
