’GONNA DRESS YOU UP! Hicksville High School students gave up their normal wardrobe for some very special days during 1986-87 school year. School spirit day was a success with many students and teachers dressed in their finest black and orange. Both the cheerleaders and starlet kickline girls wore their uni- forms on this day. Dress up day, held on Halloween, was another success. People dressed up as cats, tourists, spiders, mimes, nerds, chipmunks, and punk rockers. A costume contest was held after school for those who were wearing proper attire.'' Shorts in the winter? Leis? never fear, it'sjust the Hawaiian dress up day at HHS! Students braved the cold weather in their jams, grass skirts, and sun hats to really give the school a South Pacific air. Dress up days give students a chance to be king, queen, or even nerd for a day. Vinny Longo and Kerrie Sheridan get in a tropi- cal mood for MMS's early winter Hawaiian day. Dress Up Days

Ill Students get together for a chat before classes. Pressure: It's around us ev- eryday such as in school, in our homes, at our work and in our social lives. It's a very popu- lar ailment which causes much stress. It not only affects adults, but also teenagers, such as our- selves. In school, we must handle tests, doing homework and dealing with teachers. At work, we must meet up to the stan- dards of the boss or end up be- ing fired. At home we have the pressures of our parents who tell us what to do in life and in school. Much pressure is brought on by your peers. Friends may influence you to drink, smoke, take drugs or even cut a class. We must handle these pres- sures daily. Pressure isn't always con- sidered a negative aspect. Sometimes our friends, teach- ers and parents can encourage us to do things for our own good or that will help us later in life. Can You Handle It?!?!
