The girls' soccer team charges onto the field to show the student body that they have the spirit at the pep rally. WE GOT THE SPIRIT!! I t is hard for anyone to admit in the 1 beginning of September that he is eager to return to Hicksville High School. Most students do feel howev- er, that as the summer drags on, there is something missing. That something is emotion or spirit. It takes a few weeks, but the blood begins to pump through the veins, and soon it reaches the heart. As the fall sports season begins, more students become aware of the excitement. One afternoon in October, the entire student body gathers for the annual Pep Rally. This is the day every- one has a chance to recognize the ath- letes that represent the school. And it is here that each grade tries its hardest to prove its students have the most spirit. So what is school spirit? It does not end with the Pep Rally. Rather, this is the beginning. From here on, the spirit of Hicksville High School can be seen in everything from key chains and bumper stickers to orange hair spray worn on School Spirit Day. There is a need to make Hicksville number one, whether it be in obtaining blood for Long Island, donations for the March Of Dimes, or touchdowns against the Chiefs. School spirit is a feeling of pride. It is the voice that leads students to say, LET'S GO, HICKSVILLE! -»
