You were new Sophomores when I came to Hicksville as your principal. We together, made changes in the school; changes that have ef- fected all of us. I am proud of your class, the first that I have seen through all three years. I can remember how you took to the changes in Homecoming and that, as Juniors, you won the big trophy for the best float. 1 remember how the class made a good decision on a trip, a decision that allowed more people to participate. I remember how many of you were active in athletics and student government. I remember the development of a marching band. I can go on but this is also a time to look forward. 1 look forward to your collective futures. Each of you has an entire life ahead, a life which is full of promise. I hope that your time at Hicksville High School has been of value. 1 hope each of you lives up to his or her personal expectations. Mrs. Jonason, or more affectionately known as “Ma,” has been an advisor for the past three years. She has dedicated so much of her own time to make our senior year the best year ever. Not only is she involved in our school problems, but if you have a per- sonal problem you can count on her to listen. The Class of 1984 is honored to be the last senior class Mrs. Jonason will supervise. We feel we are lucky to have had the pleasure to work along side such a caring and understanding person. Most of the student body does not consider her as an advisor as much as a good friend. A friend who will be there years after our graduation has since faded. Wherever our paths may lead us, we will never forget her dedica- tion to the senior class and the friendship that grew throughout our years as a high school student. A true friend's what I’ve found in you, it shows in all you say and do. I can't believe all I've let you know, you know my every friend and foe. There's so much you've helped me through.
