Your laugh always made me smile, I knew deep down inside that you were One of my best friends. I always Wondered what it would be like being Closer to you. For many others, it's very hard as the Days pass. They are still holding on to You, grasping for each last memory. I can accept it now, I've learned to Control my feelings, my thoughts and my Tears. You were a big part of me, more than You'll ever know. A part of my deepest Feelings, my self-conscious, my heart. I'll never forget you Mike, you'll always Be there in my heart. I know it's hard, but I can go on. I still need you to be close by. So ... for now we will have to say Good-bye, but in the future, I hope We will be side by side. 79 MICHAEL BERRIOS 81 FACULTY DEDICATION Mr. Robert Passementi Mr. Robert Passamenti began his career as a math teacher in the )r. High School. He was then transferred to the Sr. High School, and later became an assistant principal. This will be his twentieth year of teaching. He has recently been named supervisor of all student support services, in addition to being an assistant principal. He hopes that all of the students have received more than an academic education here. He believes that our school has taught us an awareness and that no matter where we go, it will never leave us. It is because of your patience, understanding, and soft-hearted manner that we dedicate the 1983 Comet Yearbook to you. We will always remember you and use what you have taught us throughout our lives. Thank you, Mr. Robert Passamenti. 86 87 District Administration Richard P. Weigang Business Manager Board Of Education Charlene And President Jay Schwartz Vice President Thomas F. Nagle Trustee Honey G. Singer Trustee Principal's Message Whenever I sit down to write a message for you, our graduates, I always wonder if it is better to reflect on your time at Hicksville or attempt to give you advice for the future. I suspect that a little of each may be in order. Your years at Hicksville should have been growing years. Years when you learned about people and life as will as the content of the courses. You should have made friends that, if you are lucky, will last a lifetime. To be sure there were times when you felt frustration and other times when you experienced elation but, on the whole you should have had a pleasant, rewarding high school career. Now, what you do with what you have learned is an important key to your future. If you use what Hicksville has given you as a foundation you should be able to build the type of life that is best for you and that will bring you many years of happiness. The lessons you have learned at Hicksville should not be forgotten; you should look at your high school years as solid preparation for the rest of your life. Remember your experiences here and learn from them. I am confident that you will be successful. Good luck and God Bless. 90 Assistant Principals And Deans Mr. Robert Passamenti assistant principal Mr. Basil Palmeri dean Mr. Raymond Me Donough dean English Mr. John Kearns Department Chairman Mr. Melvin Alboum Mr. Thomas Bannan Mr. Michael Breheny Mr. Edwin Caner Mr. Joseph Crucilla Mrs. Elizabeth Daley Miss Constance Edsall Mr. John Field Mrs. Carola Gouse Mr. Kenneth Graiser Mr. Richard Halowitch Mr. George Higginson Mr. Lawrence La Marca Mr. Basil Palmeri Mr. Laurence Redican Mr. Robert Zaleski 92 Social Studies Mr. Kenneth Me Ginnis Department Chairman Mr. August Alfieri Mr. Terrence Both Mr. Leonard Goldberg Mr. William Horne Dr. Leo Kanawada Mr. Nicholas Muratore Mrs. Christine Podoliuk Mr. William Salvar Mr- Gerald Schlapp Science Mr. Ignatius Guccione Department Chairman Dr. Martin Cohen Mr. John Criscolo Mr. Charles Ferri Mr. Harvey Goldstein Mr. Angelo Lupis Mr. Maynard Munch Mr. Herbert Rosen Mr. Joseph Ryan Mr. Hebert Schwell Mrs. Edith Wolloch Mathematics Mr. Gerald Irwin Department Chairman Mr. Anthony Cali Mr. Jack Cohen Mr. Stewart Haviland Mrs. Shirley Karish Mrs. Denise Koegel Mrs. Gloria Reed Mr. Aloysius Rienzo Mr. Louis Safina Mrs. Karen Warner Foreign Language Business Mrs. Antoinette Sanna Mr. Frank Brown Department Chairman Mrs. Nancy De Sorbo Mr. Richard Gentile Mrs. Libertad Kozma Dr. Giedre Kumpikas Mr Richard Austin Mr. Michael Bunting Mrs. Helen Cohen Mrs. Barbara Deutscher Mr. Murray Goldstein Mr. David Green Miss Margaret Koegel Mr. Norman Mernoff Mr. Forrest Underwood Mrs. Ruth Weiss % Home Ec. Has the moon lost her memory? She is smiling alone. In the lamplight the withered leaves collect at my feet. And the wind begins to moan Memory, all alone in the moonlight. 1 can smile at the old days. I was beautiful then. I remember the time I knew what happiness was, let the memory live again Every streetlamp seems to beat a fatalistic warning. Someone mutters and a streetlamp gutters and soon it will be morning . . . Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise, I must think of a new life. And I mustn't give in. When the dawn comes tonight will be a memory too. And a new day will begin ... Burnt out ends of smokey days, the stale cold smell of mornings. The street lamp dies, another night is over, another day is dawning . . Touch me, it's so easy to leave me. All alone with the memory of my days in the sun. If you touch me, you'll understand wnat happiness is. Look, a new day has begun . . . Theme from Cats 240 My SPECIAL THANKS is extended to those who gave their extra in not only the yearbook production, but in their support, patience and understanding: Robin Pascucci Loukia Harris Michael Bonura Patrice Kenny Liz Joeckel Rob Feinberg Chris Dircks Jeff Agnoli Rosemarie Buscemi Steve Greenlick Mr. Halowitch Mr. Munch Mr. Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. Freyeisen. 1'
