Article II: Purposes The purposes of SGA shall be: 1. The promotion of democratic principles and procedures. 2. The maintenance of proper student-faculty relations. 3. The strengthening and increase of participation in extra-curricular activities in the school. 4. The strengthening of school spirit. 5. The representation of the students of Hicksvill High School in the community. 6. To improve: a) academic and social programs b) facilities of the high school Article III: Membership Section 1 The members of SGA shall be: a) One representative from each homeroom. b) One alternate representative from each homeroom. c) One chairman (selected from the delegates within the government) of all standing committees as here enumerated: General Organization (GO) Student Sponsored Activities Evaluation Student Communications d) A representative of each club established in the school. e) The officers of the Student Government. f) The Vice-President of each c ass. Section 2 Each representative shall he elected by the members of the group which he she represents. SecLion 3 No homeroom representative or alternate representative m y also represent any club. Section 4 It shall be the duty of every representative member of SGA to report the work and activities of SGA to the group which he she represents. Failure to do so will be grounds for removal from SGA. Section 5 a) Removal from SGA shall be by a 2 3 vote of a quorum of voting members. No member may vote on a motion for his her dismissal.A quorum b) If any member is removed or resigns, the represented group may choose a new representative. c) Any member dismissed for any reason may not be reinstated for the remainder of the school year. 33 CLUBS STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION This yeor. the Sfudenr Government Associorion hos gotten bock on its feet. Thonks to o greot group of representotives. olong with the executive boord. Student Government begon the steps to strengthen ond rebuild itself. The yeor got off to o greot storr with o very successful Homecoming Donee. As Thanksgiving come around, the S.G.A. decided to do something for the less fortunate of our community. A food drive wos sponsored, ond each class hod o bin in the lobby in which to col- lect food. The food collected wos then distributed equally among the needy of Hicksville. At Christmas time, the S.G.A. initiated the holiday spirit by decorating the halls of the school olong with the various classes. The S.G.A. officers also held o Foculty Appreciation Doy where they served bogels ond coffee to the faculty members. Other S.G.A. activities included o Spring Donee ond o Dottle of the Bonds. Perhaps the most important octivity of the S.G.A. wos the revision of the Constitution. A committee consisting of the S.G.A. officers ond other members worked diligently to updore the Constitution with the guidance ond input of Mr. Solver, Mr. Possomenti, ond Dr. Peick.
