Horne Dedication The field of education is a unique area in which to serve. To enter it, one must have the training of the professional man With- out looking forward to his large future mone- tary compensations. It means service to the community Without- great community pres- tige. Ask any teacher why he chose to enter the field of education and the only answer you can receive is Because I enjoy teaching. Last year two men with a total of seventy- four years of service to the Hicksville com- munity left the High School. Mr. Leon J. Gal- loway, Who had acquired twenty-eight years of teaching experience, rose to the position of principal in 1957. His colleague, Mr. Thomas H. B. Horne became assistant principal in 1950 after a lengthy and dedicated career as a teacher. Mr. Galloway has now assumed the job of district administrator and Mr. Horne has chosen to return to private life. We, as students, are now in a position to express in some small Way our gratitude for their exceptional years of devotion to educa- tion. Hence, it is with a deep sense of respect that We dedicate this yearbook to these truly professional educators.
