Flight Commanders Miss Farley To the Class of 1943: America is looking toward its thousands of high school hoys and girls all over the United States from whom to draw the strength and stamina to carry this tre- mendous world conflict to a successful con elusion. Hicksville High School is proud of its young men and wonen who are now serv- ing in the many branches of the armed forces. They are making the supreme sac- rifice to win the war at a cost of their lives, if necessary. From their brief visits to school while on leave, we learned that their morale is excellent. Many of the Class of '43 will soon be directly involved in the war effort. All will take part in the life of the nation in the destiny fraught years following the war when decisions will be made as to whether the freedom for which we now fight will endure. Alertness, team work, and the will to win will determine the difference between victory and defeat in many of the battles which lie ahead. Just as we need unity in war, we must sustain unity in peace. As Americans, we want to do everything in our power to aid the cause of victory and the cause of peace. Mabel R. Farley Principal Mr. LeBarron To the Class of 1943: There will be many opportunities await' ing you upon graduation, and your services will be in great demand. In seeking these opportunities, I hope you will not overlook the home front with its many important aeeds and responsibilities. One of your greatest problems will be that of adjustment to conditions as you find them. I hope your high school train- ing will be helpful to you in whatever field of service you select. Your high school diploma is still a valuable document and in the post war period will be even more valuable and necessary. The fact that jobs are easily obtained today in no way lessens the need and value for education. Many of your classmates have already been called to serve either at home or on the battle front, and others are awaiting their opportunity. This is highly commend able and truly American as well as typical of the spirit of Hicksville High School. We are proud of you and your achievements. Whatever you do and wherever you serve, our best wishes go with you. May you never forget your Alma Mater, and may Hicksville High be ever a source of inspira- tion to you. E. H. LeBarron Superintendent
