THE COMET Published by the Senior Class Hicksville High School Hicksville, New York Printed in the Hicksville High School Print Shop The Comer Staff Front row: Lillian Vietheer, Matilda Erb, Doris Small, Eugene Staehle, Henry Curtis, Lucille Ruggiero, Harold Huettner, Harry Schluter Back row: Jane Snyder, Warren Graef, Irene Carnegie, Simone Chevalier, Harold Dodwell, Robert Clayton, Frances Rausch, Virginia Karman, John Owczar, Evelyn Ulmer Forward As the years fly by with the speed of a comet, and our precious recollections of Hicksville High School grow dim and vague, this book will increase in value as a restorer that refreshes and brings back to life these memories. That this issue of The Comet may serve to remind us of the happy times spent here in our school, Hicksville High, is the fervent wish of The Comet Staff. Check every night on the page you wrote during the day, and no matter how good it was, write a better one tomorrow. Be loyal to your School. Remember that when you graduate ou go out as its representative. You cannot avoid this responsibility. In enrolling your name on its list of alumni, it accepts you as one of its number and rrcn will judge your school by what they know and think of you. It is tri e that men generally will be more apt to notice the evil than the good. If your life is a had one, they will point to you as the kind of man or woman that Hicksville High School turns out. You have it now in your power to repay the school to some extent for what it has done for you. For this end it is noi neces- sary to do some great thing that the world applauds. If you find happiness in the walk of life you choose to follow, even though it may seem to be relatively unimportantin the world’s work; if you put intoyour work and your play all the energy of a healthy, well developed body; if you are a good citizen, capable and honorable in your calling, and upright in your life; if you have an intelligent and self-sacrificing interest in the public welfare; if you are ready to do your part to be of service 10 humanity; you will honor your school by increasing its long list of successful alumni and you will render to your fellow man the service that Hicksville High School desires of you.
