From the Principal W. L. BENNETT, JR. Principal As we view the pages of this annual, we ate much aware of many innovations which have been made in our school. We see for the first time a public kindergarten, additional audio-visual equipment, and improved techniques in teaching procedures and student activi- ties. These changes indicate an intense effort on the part of faculty and students to meet the requirements of a changing and complex society. Because of this changing and complex world, much emphasis is placed by the administration on the development of the individual to the maximum of his potential. As your principal, I would like to challenge each student to strive to develop himself as much as possible during the ensuing years in high school, while at the same time congratu- late the parents who provide these opportunities. I want to commend the students and faculty for your excellent work in preparation of this annual. Sincerely, W. L. BENNETT, JR. Principal

Since today's young citizens must be involved in the education and welfare of his country, it is most reassuring to see the principal and the teachers of the Hicks High School directing the academic and extracurricular activities of the students so that they can more easily make the transition from schoolchild to young adult. When each of you students go from Hicks High School to take your place in the adult world, 1 trust that your activities will creditably reflect the worthwhile precepts which your school has undertaken to teach. I wish to compliment the staff and sponsor for their contributions involved in com- piling and editing this yearbook. I also wish to extend the warmest regards to each student enrolled. I hope that this yearbook may for many years serve to verify by print and pictures the many experiences that you have enjoyed during this school term and to help you find inspiration to continue such worthwhile activities. Sincerely, MRS. J. C. TROTTI School Board Member, Ward Eight
