From the Superintendent of Vernon Parish Schools Congratulations to the staff, sponsors and the many individuals for their contributions and efforts involved in compiling and editing this at- tractive yearbook. This annual reveals much more than a pictorial record of school ac- tivities; it records progress and the deep meaning that school associations and friendships have in the lives of our young people. As you review the many accomplishments in this publication, may you find inspiration to help you continue worthwhile activities. Best wishes! Sincerely, CURTIS BRADSHAW, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools

Since today's young citizens must be involved in the education and welfare of his country, it is most reassuring to see the principal and the teachers of the Hicks High School directing the academic and extracurricular activities of the students so that they can more easily make the transition from schoolchild to young adult. When each of you students go from Hicks High School to take your place in the adult world, 1 trust that your activities will creditably reflect the worthwhile precepts which your school has undertaken to teach. I wish to compliment the staff and sponsor for their contributions involved in com- piling and editing this yearbook. I also wish to extend the warmest regards to each student enrolled. I hope that this yearbook may for many years serve to verify by print and pictures the many experiences that you have enjoyed during this school term and to help you find inspiration to continue such worthwhile activities. Sincerely, MRS. J. C. TROTTI School Board Member, Ward Eight
