School Board Member’s Message As we come to the close of 1968-69 school year I want to express my sincere appreciation to the annual staff and to each person who has contributed in any way to a fine job of presenting a review of the past school year. You have captured the excitement of Hicks High School life in this yearbook. In later years as you glance over the pages of The Pirate, you will be reunited with your friends and classmates; you will thank your wonderful counselors and teachers for the advice they passed on to you; you will re-enact the good times that you had working with the organizations and clubs. ' My best wishes go to the parents, teachers, and students of Hicks High School. MRS. J. C. TROTTI School Board Member Ward 8, Vernon Parish

Principal’s Message As we view the pages of this annual. The Pirate; we find a mark of distinction which identifies the characteris- tics of our school and community. The attitude of, Anything less than maximum effort is unsatisfactory,” is certainly one which compliments the students as well as the parents of our community. Evidence of this is also expressed by the recognition gained by our students in receiving awards at parish, district, and state, as well as at the national level. I want to commend the staff and sponsor on the development of an excellent yearbook which is attractive and informative. This yearbook reflects the devotion to duty by the entire annual staff which again compliments our students. W. L. BENNETT, JR. Principal
