Mr. Bradshaw Mr. Curtis Bradshaw, Superintendent of Vernon Parish Schools, is well acquainted with with the schools of Vernon Parish as he re- ceived his elementary and secondary educa- tion at Anacoco and served as principal or as athletic director in three of Vernon Parish schools - Whiskachitta Grammar School, Pic- kering High School and Anacoco High School. When selected as principal at Anacoco, Mr. Bradshaw had the distinction of being the youngest principal in Louisiana. Mr. Bradshaw’s service and leadership in education began in high school; he was president of his graduating class. Since re- ceiving an AB degree from Louisiana State Normal College and a ME degree from Louisi- ana State University, Mr. Bradshaw has served as president for the Vernon Parish Teachers’ Assoc.; Vernon Parish Principals’ Assoc.; Vernon Parish Athletic Organization; Northwest Administra- tors Club and Northwestern High School Rally Assoc. In addition to these offices, he served on various educational committees: Teachers' State Ten- ure Committee; Teachers’ State Welfare Committee; LTA Legislative Committee. In 1956, Mr. Brad- shaw served on the Twenty-Five Superintendents’ State Committee to study small schools and trans- portation. In 1965, as a result of his excellent service and work on various committees, Mr. Bradshaw was appointed by State Superintendent of Education William J. Dodd to serve as a member of the One- Hundred-Man Curriculum Study Committee in the State. Dedicated as he is to education, Mr. Bradshaw has not neglected his responsibilities to his family, church and civic organizations. He is a Shriner and a member of the Baptist Church, Leesville-Ver- non Parish Chamber of Commerce and many fraternal and social organizations. He has served as mas- ter of the Orange Masonic Lodge, master of Anacoco Lodge No 147 and Eighth District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of La. When one becomes aware of Mr. Bradshaw's impressive service in education, one understands the rapid progress the Vernon Parish schools have made in cuniculum, buildings and extracurricular ac- tivities. All high schools in Vernon Parish have been accredited by the Southern Association of Sec- ondary Schools and Colleges since Mr. Bradshaw became superintendent. Mr. Bradshaw believes the true worth of any school is shown in the quality of its product; there- fore, the Vernon Parish students are provided opportunities for growth and preparation to meet tomor- row's responsibilities.
