We thank Mr. Morrison for sponsoring this annual, and also the other members of the faculty who made it possible for us to publish it. So with thoughts of '60-61 in mind, let us turn the page. Sincerely, Artice Davis Editor We the annual staff dedicate this edition of the Pirate to a man who has not only given us a helping hand in all phases of our school life, but also spon- sored this yearbook as well. It is with great satisfaction that we give him this edition of our annual, The 1961 Pirate, and say thank you for a job well done, Mr. Morrison. D. I. It records people and events not merely in terms of the observable in the classroom and at recreation, but it also reveals much of the deeper meaningthat high school education and training can have in the lives of boys and girls. It is my opinion that this publication will do a great deal to build a good esprit de corps binding together not only the student body and school person- nel, but the community as well. Congratulations for having achieved many worthwhile accomplishments as re- flected in this annual. With every good wish, I am Sincerely, Curtis Bradshaw, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools The students of Hicks High School are to be commended for their many achievements during this school year. As you review the pages in this an- nual, may you be reminded of the good times you have had with your friends and the many profitable hours you have spent in the classroom. It is our sincere hope that we have pointed out ways in which to make your life longer and fuller than it might have been. Congratulations are due the Pirate staff for their work that has made this publication possible. Sincerely yours. William H.
