The students of Hicks High School can well be proud of their educational system. There has been outstanding develop- ment and accomplishments in all fields of educational activities in your school community and progress has been made. There is a greater holding power of school now than ever be- fore. This is due to an improved and enriched program. The future well-being of your community and state will be largely determined by your ability to cultivate qualities of vision, imagination and intellectual re- sourcefulness. The New Industrial South needs men and women of highest type of inventive thinking in industry, commerce, engineering, farming and other basic production activities of your economy. Such qualities can be cultivated only in the classrooms in which children and youth are given an opportunity to develop their intellectual faculties, by expressing them. Therefore, look forwardto the mark of high calling of moral purity and intelligent thinking, always to act and walk uprightly in your several stations in life, being prudent in every duty to God, your country, your neighbor, your family and yourself.
