he Eedzczatzon Gxfted wlth a great enthuslasm and a keen lnterest ln educatlon she came to Hlckory Wlth all the xdeals of a new teacher Just out of college and we reaped the beneflts As freshmen she was 1nsp1r1ng to us as both an Engllsh and a general sclence teacher Her reassurmg manner put us at ease and encouraged us to fmd our places ln the hxgh school scheme of thmgs Miss Artman was the freshman class sponsor ln addltlon to her dutles as a home room teacher and advlser of The Hlckory Leaf Agam as advlser of the Jumor class she made a concerted effort to show us how our Junlor year mxght be most successful As a result Here Comes Charlle was well worth the hours of unendlng work Always wlth an eye on the prom and lts cost MISS Artman was 1n volved wxth the Jumor class proJects of sellmg mxlk to the student body and refreshments at the games along wlth Junxor class rmgs When prom tlme came a year s preparatlon stood us IH good stead and Miss Artman so englneered the decoratlon as to provlde everyone a chance to contrlbute to lts success verslty of Plttsburgh MISS Artman returned last fall ln the capac1ty of school exammer and once more advised the class of 48 1n the matter of vocatlonal ChOlC8 through the Kuder Preference test admmlstered to all semors Mlss Artman also fell helr to the proJect1on crew and 1ts accom panymg headaches handlmg all the vlsual educatlon that IS used ln the entxre system Then too she cooperated ln organxzlng the Scxence Club But for all of thls she stlll has leisure tlme to attend the football and baseball games sports ratmg hlgh among her pleasures Yet all of these are not the thlngs for which she IS remembered best She IS someone to talk to ln the classroom whlle dashmg down the hall at a game on a street corner She IS never too busy to help whether It be another task for her a word of 3dVlC6 a suggestxon or Just a smile of approval For thls we the senlor class of nlneteen hundred and forty elght do dedlcate to Mlss Betty Lou Artman who has been so much a part of our class through lts hxgh school career our annual as a fmal thank you 6 O , CQ D Y ! . . .
