DICK ROBINS They Serve the People The SQIIIOIS more ever forward under the leadership of thelr capable oficeis 8 Plemdem HI TORY o PROGRESS DORIS PATTON Vlce President NO RA MURRAY S ec retary JESSIE MANER Treasurer SENIORS AS FRESHMEN In the early fall of 1941 We stumbled upon a gleat institution called Hickorv High School This 1mpos1n building was to be our home fC1 the next four yeals A we Vklltlllell folth into our new sulroundmgs our eyes held a gleam of expectation and hope mingled wlth the feal of upholding oul own m a school filled with high and mighty Seniors Juniors and Sophomores Our first days as Freshmen were gloomy and full of grief We found OUISQIVGS in a pe cullal envnonmen and VNGIQ tortured constant ly by the uppel classmen 'who looked down upon us with scorn Anyone would think we had the neasles on mumps or something Fveu one Just ignored us These distressmg conditions wele not to last long however Under the dnection of oul home 1o0m teachels M1 Parkinson M1 Jack and Miss Cullei we finally became COUSCIOUS of ou1 importance Whlle in this mood we elected home 100m officers vsho vsele Dick Boblns Joan Love Maxine Plake G Stambrook J D1ll1nge1 R La Camera P Johnson M Vassen B Taylor S McCullough and S Kulbak The seat reserved for a Freshman in the Student Council was taken over by JQSSIC Maner The Freshman Boys and Girls clubs held many parties and entertaining as well as educa- tional meetings were held led by hd. Steele R. La Camera J. Molasky D. Patton Claire Burke I'. Christy and V. Tallarico. This was possible only under the fine supervision of Mr. Houck and Mrs. Hutchii s. During the year many of our classmates joined the Band Orchestra and Chorus. The Freshman Chorus sang Ixegro spirituals at the minstrel. IVe also did tumbling and dancinj in the Gym Exhioition. That y-ar our school cap- tured Class A championship in basketball. Maxine Plake gained distinction by winning the Latin Club award for thc year. On this successful note vue sadly yet joyful- ly brought to a close our eventful Freshman yeai
