One of them is a Southern Belle. The South has long been known for its beautiful girls. In Hickory Flat we have the cream of the crop from which to choose. Many girls pass through the portals of this school each year out into the world of today. We feel that from these we are giving not only the best in beauty but also in quality. We all realize that a high school education would be impossible without two groups of people - our parents and our teachers. These two groups. working together, have aided and encouraged u , have stood behind us when we needed them and have provided us with equipment for study and an atmosphere in which to learn. To the Parent-Teachers Association, whose work we deeply appreciate, we, the senior class of Hickory Flat High School, gratefully dedicate this volume, the 1963 Hickory Nutt. Zhe Hickory Staff The Annual Staff has worked hard to give you a true picture of your school this year. Much plan- ning and work has gone into the preparation of this book and we proudly present it to you. SANDRA VANZANT, Editor SEATED: Patricia Taylor, Sandra Vanzant, Ronnie Hudspeth. STANDING: Jane Childers, Barbara Ayres, Helen Hobson, Gloria Whiteside, Gail Ormon, Martha Autry, Carol Sullivan, Peggy Moffitt, Janice Howard, Martha Ann Dixon, Advisor. rn'rrrrrrrr' l i l t i M i, mm Ifltii!'!1!' Principal’s Message The glow of youth is wonderful. It gives me sat- isfaction and an inner peace to have part in helping to train them. I hope in my humble way to aid you in the accomplishment of that object for which we all la- bor in common - EDUCA- TION. I cannot foresee what the future will be. That is al- ways uncertain; we know that there has never been a time in history when the challenge to youth has been as great as it is today. The future of our country lies in your hands. You must, therefore, seek knowledge and apply what you gain; you must accept the respon- sibilities that will be yours. When one of my stu- dents accepts the challenge s, assumes his responsibilities, takes his position in society and becomes a useful citizen for his country, I know my efforts have not been in vain. Sincerely yours, J. P. Burt J. P. BURT MISS MARTHA ANN DDCON J a e u I t V PRINCIPAL AND SOCIAL STUDIES COMMERCE MRS. MARY JO GRESHAM j. r. mccreary MRS.
