Zhe 1957 Hickory fiutt Dedication To our helpful and understanding teachers, sponsors, and friends who have rendered every service possible to uphold the spirit of Hickory Flat; to two of the most devoted and loveable teachers, we, the Senior Class of 1957, proudly dedicate this edition of THE HICKORY NUTT to our very own-- Mrs. C. R. Craig Mr. J. R. McCreary To the students of Hickory Flat: As the years pass and you grow older, we hope you will occasionally turn back the hands of the clock and relive through the pages of your annual your days here at Hickory Flat. Perhaps if you could relive these days, you'd do many things in a different way, but since you pass this way only once, you should make the most of all opportunities. As you pass through the halls of learning, may you be granted a deeper respect for knowledge and an appreciation of the ones who have taught you and helped to mold your lives. Do not become discouraged when a mistake occurs. Remember that the only people who do not make mistakes are either doing nothing or dead. Some of our greatest men have made many mistakes, but their failures have served to urge them on to greater success. Best of luck to all of you. Ray ( F. L. Prophecy I, with my mystic power, unfold the future to you and give a brief glimpse of the Senior Class of 1957. Ten years from today I see Janie West as editor of the Ladies Home Journal. Next we see Coleman McNeal and Don Taylor, the boys who were such good friends in high school, fighting over the job as dog-catcher. May the best Man win. Mary Wicker is living in a beautiful Old Maids Home which she built for herself and living there with her is Judy Mayer who was jilted by Louis Prather who is happily married to a girl we re- member as a Sophomore of 1957. Next I see Joann Bready Potts in a beautiful home in Texas where she has always wanted to live and of course I see Lindy and the children out amoung the oil wells they own. We see Leathie Houston living in Germany with a family of three children. I see Carol Taylor coming home from his job as truck driver meeting his wife, mother-in-law and five kids. As I passed through Starkville I found Jimmy Baker as a Science Professor at Mississippi State. We now see Ralph Taylor as a great farmer, his wife, Shirley, and nine kids out looking over the farm near Pine Grove. We next see Raymond Little as the leading star of one of Broadway's biggest hits Come Back My Lover and who is this we see in the audience; could it be Freddie Bradford who has married a great movie producer, who is head of Benny Co. Charles Gadd who has enjoyed the fame of having the biggest feet in the world now models for the biggest shoe company in the world, The James Smith Co. who we remember as a Senior of 1957 also. I now look in an office and see Judy Rhea as a smiling secretary. No wonder she smiles, her boss is Thomas. I will take a glimpse of Washington at breakfast time. Oh, so the president of the United States will be coming in soon. I think I have pretty good eyes, but surely they have deceived me; Robert Moorehead walked through the door. Who thought he would ever go from president of the Senior Class to President of the United States? Through the crystal ball we see our last Senior of 1957, Betty Hall out by the Robbins Milk Co. watching after the two sets of twins, three boys and a girl. Dimmer and Dimmer grows the ball. Its message is over, and I, too, will say to you my farewell message, Peace - Happiness - Good-bye. THE JUNIOR CLASS OF 1957 Class Will We, the Senior Class of Hickory Flat High School, county of Benton, state of Mississippi, being of unsound mind and disintegrating memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this as our last will and testament: Leathie Houston leaves her ability to save money to Judy Cooke. Judy Mayer leaves her ability to go with Potts Camp boys to Jean Taylor. Janie West leaves her ability to be quiet to Jewell Dean Massengill. Charles Gadd leaves his dainty feet to Jimmy Perkins. Sonny Moorehead leaves his ability to argue to Malcolm Gray. Judy Rhea wills her ability to be on time to school to William Harris. James Smith wills his ability to buzz the block to Falba White. Ralph Taylor leaves his ability to play ball to Tommy Edwards. Freddie Bradford leaves her ability to play ball to Bobbie Kirk. Jimmy Baker leaves his ability to miss school to Glen Bounds. Coleman McNeal and Don Taylor leave their ability to go to Myrtle every night to Benny Ray Goolsby. Louis Prather leaves Josephine to Johnny Courson. Mary Wicker leaves her height to Mary Etta Wilson. Raymond Little leaves his shyness and modesty to Morris Wilson. Carol Taylor doesn't leave anything, he needs all he has, and all donations will be appreciated. Joann Potts leaves her ability to get married to Mary Joyce West. Betty Hall leaves her book on How to Hold a Man to Patricia Gray and hopes she succeeds.
