Math Department Expands Program To Otter Wider Array ot, Courses Mathematics courses are geared to teach what students need, whether- it's figuring insurance premiums and payments on loans, or the time, distance, and directions involved in space travel. s Functional Mathlpresents thought problems and exercises for daily living--but these can be surprisingly complex. l Algebra l and ll and Plane Geometry teach students to reason with abstract or unknown factors, often using theories proven over two thousand years ago. The new rnethodof math teaching extended through these courses. For students who plan a career using advanced mathematics, there are college preparatory courses Math lV and V, Analytic Geometry, and Calculus.
