dlaSA - Jli.star When the Senior Class of 1954, entered Hickman High School four years ago, we were of course classed green and quite noisy. But at the end of the year we were beginning to feel big and tried to act it. Now we have reached one of the most important years in our life and we want to thank each and every person who helped us through four of the best years in our lives. Freshman Year: We entered our Freshman Year with thirty students. Jean Glidwell was our candidate for Miss H. H. S. Her business manager was Bobby Newsom. Sue Hall was elected cheer-leader and we had two boys on the basketball team. Our class officers were! President, Baker Minton; Veep, Harold Ross; Secretary, Jean Glid- well; Treasurer, Roger Harris. Our class sponsor was Mr. Alton Riddle. Sophomore Year: Our second year in high school we had a class of thirty-one students. This year we just sat back and watched the Juniors and Seniors work hard to make money for a trip and the school annual. We knew we would have to do the same thing next year but we weren't worrying about it so soon. We elected Betty Wilmath for candidate for Miss H. H. S. and Baker Minton as business manager. Sue Hall was elected cheer-leader again and we had five boys represented on the ball team. One of oiTr classmates was elected in Who's Who. Our class officers were: President, Baker Minton; Veep, Bobby Newsom; Secretary-Treasurer, Jean Glidwell. Our sponsor was Mrs. Alton Riddle. Junior Year: Even though our class had dropped to twenty-seven students this year, we worked very hard o earn enough money to carry the Seniors on a trip. We give thanks to our class sponsor, Mrs. James Allen Mitchell, and also the credit for our wonderful trip to Daytona Beach, Florida. We would have never achieved this much if she hadn't have been there all the time with ideas and leadership. Ruby Broyles was our candidate for Miss H.H.S. with Baker Minton, business manager. We represented one cheer-leader Nancy James, and seven ball boys. Several of our members were elected in Who's Who and two were selected as Favorites. We presented a play The Terror with the help of Mrs. Rose Ramsey and Mrs. James A. Mitchell, which we think was a big success. We also sponsored a May Festival with our candidate, Nancy Hollis. Our class officers were: President, Patricia Townsend; Veep, Roger Harris; Secretary, Nancy James; Treasurer, Billy Sanders. Senior Year: Well we finally made it and with only ninteen students. We thank Mr. Ozment and the other teachers that helped guide us through this year and with the help of our annual. Nancy James was elected candidate for Miss H.H.S. Her business manager was Bobby Newsom. Nancy James was also elected cheer-leader. We had four boys playing on the basketball team, which almost made up the main team. Harold Ross was one of our big, attractions this year with breaking the record of the most points of anyone in Hickman. We were very proud of Harold Goyd, also getting the scholarship to University of Kentucky. We are also proud of Jack Moore, Joe Blincoe and Thomas Hooker, of our room who helped us have a very successful basketball team. We had many members in our class to be elected in Who's Who and eight in our class were chosen as Favorites. Our class officers are: President, Delores Phipps; Veep, Jack Moore; Secretary, Nancy Hollis; and Treas- urer Roger Harris. Sargeant-at-arms, Harold Ross. 16 Nancy Hollis
