Class Pessimist For some unfortunate reason I was picked for Class Grumbler, this year. Just why did this happen to me? Now that I've been picked for it, boy, am I going to grumble. First thing comes English. Wny do they teach English? Most people know how to talk, at least I do. .Lets take the study hall, now. They should let you sleep instead of making you strain your eyes looking at books. You can't walk down the hall without running into Mitch . He says Where are you supposed to be? You'll tell him. Well, get there, he'll say. And another thing I don't like is having to run to the office every time you're tardy or miss a day. Now take Miss Caldwell, you can't help it if you're tardy four or five times a week, can you? She used to be young once, didnH she? 1 don't see why some people make A's in school. I never make over a C. If I'm lucky, 1 might make a B. Most of it would be luck, if I did. Why do some people get out of school and the rest of us have to stay in? They should have at least one Holiday a week. Oh! but no, you must stay and study your little bitty seif to insanity. I don't see why they don't run a bus to the houses in the winter to keep us from freezing stiff. Of course, some of the kids have cars to go to school in. Well, I have two cars, too, my great big, good two feet. We never get to do anything at this school except study and study. At tim2s when I go to bed at night, all I see is books, and more books. Why, I don't see what keeps kids from going raving mad at school. You raise up and ask some- body passing by, Say, what time is it? They'll say, What do you care, your not going any place, are you? Then that makes me very unhappy. In the summer time the bugs and mosquitoes are so bad, when you shut the door, they start coming in the windows. Then you shut the windows and they start coming in the door again. Life sho does get worrisome, don't it? JOHN C. WRIGHT
