Class Prophecy It is now the year 1961 and I have just finished the regular baseball season. I have been playing for the New York Yankees. We are starting our first game of the World Series this week in St. Louis. Guess who is pitching for the Cardinals — “Frog” Wilkerson. He has won 20 games for the Cards this season. I flew from New York Yesterday and met Harriett Townsend on the plane. She told me all about her big plans for becoming the top designer of the U.S. She was returning from her New York Annual Designer’s Convention. I enjoyed seeing her. We stopped in Washington for refueling; several passengers got on. We noticed a familiar face--that of Claudy Thomas. He is now the Editor of the Washington Sun Daily. The three of us had a grand time together until we parted in St. Louis. After I checked in the Statler Hotel I went to a Night Club to dine. As I walked in the head waiter approached me--it was Royce Ritchie. We talked while I ordered. Suddenly he had a big surprise for me. He brought over Betty Watson and her husband. They told me that Julia Terrett and her husband were also up for the game. It is now the big day for the big game. While I warmed up I heard familiar voices. It was three old buddies; Sam Adams, Glenn Sargent, and Ken Blincoe. They were having a grand time and said that they had just robbed a bank. I believed them. I also noticed two more excited fans; Mr. and Mrs. Boyce. Mrs Ross is the former Jo Ann McClellan. I noticed six children with them. Boyce jokingly said he was raising a family to fit his 15 chair shop. Well, it is a week later and the Yankees brought home another pennant. I started to Hickman on the bus. Martha Williams climbed aboard. She is the personal secretary of the President of the Atomic Power Plant at Paducah. As we rode along on the bus we noticed several signs stating the new “ Black Jackson planation. James and Gerald have done well. Billy Joe Roberts met me as I got off the bus in Hickman. Gee, it was good to be home. He took me down to see his new modern car business. Holt Jones was there looking over a big car. Said he was trying to buy a car to fit his large family. After our chat with Holt, “Bunyan and I decided to go see the movie. As we entered the show we met Ernestine Choate, who is now the Assist- ant Manager. In the lobby we were delighted in seeing the former Patsy Sue Williams, whose husband is one of uncle sam’s boys. With her was the former Faydell Morrow. Her husband owns the largest gold mine in Alaska. The picture show was very interesting but I enjoyed the news reel most. I was surprised to find that “Hassel Cartwright, a very famous poet, is now in England. However, I was more surprised when I saw that “Bubba” wright is now a football player on the University of Kentucky team. Before I returned to New York I wanted very much to see two more of my old classmates. First I wanted to see “Salty” King who now owns the most beautiful and modern grocery store I have ever seen. He has certainly done well, and I am very proud of him. 23

Class Optimist As Optimist of the Senior Class of 1952, I find that the mem- bers of our class have all been of a happy turn of mind. They have always tried to look on the bright side of life. We shall always feel that our years in school have been the happiest years of our lives. We shall always remember our teachers, and friends, and also all the wonderful times we have had. One of the outstanding achievements of the class was the taking of the Seniors of the previous year to the Kentucky Lake State Park. We were then the members of the Junior Class. Another achievement was the publishing of the “WILDCAT of 1952. Some additional achievements made by various members of the class are as follows: We have furnished cheerleaders; we have had our share of honor students; we have staged successful plays, and many of our members have made enviable records in basket ball. Our graduation is a climax to our high school years, but will only be a beginning of trials far greater than we have ever known. Before leaving we wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the faculty, and especially to our Superintendent, and Sponsor for the annual, Mr. T. D. Ozment. Without his help and assistance, the publishing of our Annual would not have been possible. Now that we are graduating from Hickman High School, I, in behalf of the Senior Class of 1952, bid a fond adieu to our beloved Alma Mater. JAMES H. KING 22

Class Prophecy Last, but certainly not least, is, and shall remain in my memory, the best friend I ever had. They say that the best of friends sometimes fight, well we must be good friends because we've fought enough. I guess by now you know I’m talking about Sara Don Henry.
