Joyce Ross CLASS HISTOAC The class history names but a few of the exciting events that happened during our high school years. The things I am about to write may not seem important to you, but they are very important to the seniors of Hickman High. As we read this history in later years we can lookback and remember all the exciting things that have happened during our four years in high school. Who could ever forget when our class entered the portals as, “Green Freshmen”? We had an enrollment of twenty-eight students and Miss Jean- ette Pearl Graham was our sponsor. The exciting thing we dreaded (in a way) was when we were going to be initated. Our class officers were: President, Gaylon Williams; Vice-President, Helen May; Secretary and Treasurer, Mary Jo Gibson; and Class Reporter, Jane Bennett. In 1949 we entered our Sophomore year with an enrollment of twenty students. Miss Vivian Caldwell, our sponsor, helped us to achieve many of the goals we set for ourselves and our class during the year. Our class officers were: President, Helen May; Vice-President, Tommy Royer; Secretary, Lena M. Lattus; and Treasurer, Joyce Coette Ross. The most eventful of all our high school days were those of our Junior year. Our sponsor was Mr. Riddle. We were looking forward to getting our class rings, and it seemed as if they would never get here But finally they came and we were very excited about them. The most exciting and in a way bor- ing event was when we were raising money for the junior and senior trip. But as the years go on we can lookback and remember the fun we had, such as our trip to the Smoky Mountains. Our class officers were: President, Mary Jo Gibson; Vice-President, Billy Loyd Wilkerson; Secretary, Helen May; Treasurer, Martha Sue Terrett. Truly the most exciting of all our years in high school was when we be- came seniors, but I suppose any student, no matter how modest, admits to being proud when they reach this year. The memories of our high school days would not be complete without tribute to our sponsor Miss Vivian Caldwell and to all the teachers who have helped us to make our achievements possible. Our class officers are: President, Robin Lee Pierce; Vice-President, Eugene Moore; Secretary, Charles Hickerson; Treasurer, Roger Bowers; and Class Reporter, Mary Jo Gibson. Of the group that enteredhigh school with us many have already gone on to do otherthings in life, but the twenty that are graduating in this, the class of 50-51 will always remember and treasure our high school days. 20
